Hi, what is the Vanos situation, last worked on in 2015, if I remember correctly, or more recently?

Condition of VANOS was checked when the chains and guides were replaced in May 2020, and found to be ok. No untoward VANOS noise.

Many thanks. The corrosion on the window trim and bubbling of rear wheel arch, how long ago did this start or when did you first notice it?

Also, this car missed the Running in Service? 1st service was at 8797 miles in December 2002?

The window trim corrosion on the near side has been there quite a few years and is a very common issue on the high gloss shadow line trim. Drivers side looks ok. Looked into replacements at one point but I recall sections of trim are NLA. The small spot of corrosion on the rear arch I think is about 4 yrs old and hasn’t worsened over that time probably as the car is garaged.
Re the running in service, I recall it has had it, but early in my ownership I lost the original service book when moving house. I had to have a duplicate made up which I then sent off to the BMW main dealers (Dick Lovett Bristol and Westerley BMW Taunton) it had been serviced with. They stamped those services they were responsible for. They could verify all services back to late 2002 but their computer system changed and they weren’t able to access details of services further back than this, therefore couldn’t stamp the book for its RI service which I think was carried out in May 2002 either by supplying dealer Sytner Sunningdale or Dick Lovetts. Via BMW UK customer services I verified its other visits to main dealers from late 2002 onwards.
It’s had the major engine jobs attended to (conrod bearings and the chains, tensioners and guides done) which should provide some reassurance as to the approach to maintenance it’s had over the years.
