Browsing the classifieds and spotted that a DB9.2 (Gen 2) looks very good value, compared to a Virage or a DBS. How does a DB9.2 compared to said cars?
They look very similar to a DBS but how do they compare?

Thanks in advance for useful replies.

I agree they are great value.
The Virage didn’t really work sandwiched between the 9 and DBS, so as the DBS was replaced by the Vanquish Aston substantially upgraded the 9 to step over the Virage (production then stopped) to near S levels! In essence they tweaked the Virage

Because of its flagship status, fame via Bond movies more aggressive styling and high end features like carbon panels reducing weight the DBS has retained better values. Emotively the DBS still hits the spot every time, but the DB9.2 (should be .3 really as there was a big upgrade in 09) arguably offers better value, although top end prices bump into the bottom of the DB11 which is also now awesome value!

Here are the exact details of the 2013MY upgrade, hope it helps, if you want the full story on both you know what to do smile

KEY POINT CHANGES DB9 2012-2013MY
● More modern Virage styling with new rear spoiler.
● Slimmer alloy sidebars with LED lights.
● New pedestrian and seat belt safety features.
● Bi-Xenon Lights.
● 20-inch wheels and wider tyres.
● CCM Carbon Ceramic brakes (F398mm/R360mm).
● New three stage ADS + two stage steering.
● Enhanced engine output + 40 bhp + 14 lbft.
● Shorter gearing by virtue of new final drive ratio.
● 15 kg lighter, more rigid Bodyshell (20%Cp/30% Vol)
● Higher quality interior leather and switchgear
● Auto-lights and auto-wipers
● Sport mode and DSC now with “Track Mode”
● Price increases by around £6,000
● New options (+standard Reversing Camera US only)

KEYPOINT CHANGES to outgoing VIRAGE
● Enhanced V12 +20 bhp +37 lbft - better economy.
● 3-stage ADS + 2-stage steering.
● New pedestrian safety system. More rigid bodyshell.
● Larger rear ducktail spoiler. Auto lights/wipers.
● New options + Price reduced.

I’d have a DBS over any DB9 every time, but ultimately decided to go Vanquish.

I drove a couple of late DB9 and they felt too soft and quiet for my taste.

But they have 3 suspension settings don't they?

I dream of an Aston Martin that can go over some a bit of slightly rough road without feeling like a space capsule breaking up on re-entry.
