Hi all.

Now fitting the Clive F Gt manifolds with new ARP stainless bolts and washers. I also have the Nordlock washers so are these fitted under the normal stainless washer supplied with the bolts ??

Nordlocks are fitted on their own, if you fit other washers with them they won't work.

Nordlock washers are designed to really secure a bolt. Not sure I would use them in something that you will need to undo in the future.
ARP blots make total sense though, to help with the ridiculous access. Even spark plug changes are bloody awkward with our manifolds and coolant rail!

I used Nordlock washers with ARP stainless bolts, the washers work by gripping the contact surfaces, the manifold is okay for this but the surface of the ARP is too hard so they just slip. I used a centre-pop to roughen the bolt flange surfaces. Do not combine Nordlock with other washers, they, they need to be in direct contact with the two surfaces. ARP's are so smooth they loosen very easily so they need all the help you can give them. I posted a thread on here many years ago which covered this and other manifold related issues

as per above, although I used stainless hex bolts not ARP, you need the stainless steel nordlocks for them to work without other modifications.

Yeah they have to grip the head, so a washer stops that working.

They can be undone fine however, as shown by the lovely fiddle toy their marketing people gave out duing a toolbox talk at work once.

I did wonder when I fitted them if the force to overcome the cam action when loosening the bolt would put undue strain on the aluminum threads in the block. However I have not had cause to touch them since..
