Please tell me about the CSC for the EuropaS
Discussion
Hello,
I'm writing to ask for information about a Central Slave Cylinder (CSC) that can be used with a LOTUS Europa S.
Last year, I replaced the clutch in my LOTUS Europa S with one from a Vauxhall Astra H VXR. The original clutch diameter was 228mm, but upgrading to the VXR clutch, which is 240mm in diameter, allows it to withstand increased power. I learned about this upgrade method from Vauxhall and OPEL Z20LET websites and Facebook communities. I also heard that this modification has been performed on several Europa S models in Europe.
However, my Central Slave Cylinder failed in less than six months. So, I decided to replace the CSC and purchased a new, genuine LUK VXR part (part number 624 3233 33). I thought installing this would solve the problem, but it didn't work out.
The combined thickness of the flywheel, clutch plate, and clutch cover was too thick, causing excessive pressure on the CSC. It seems that the previous CSC failed due to this same issue of being overly compressed and subjected to too much load.
I then consulted a Facebook forum, and someone else had experienced the same problem. They also mentioned that the clutch cover's diaphragm put excessive strain on the CSC, leading to its failure. They recommended a different Valeo CSC (part number: 1104334) that they had purchased and successfully installed without issues.
Believing this would work, I bought the Valeo CSC. However, it seems the part number had changed, and I ended up purchasing "810226" instead of "1104334." Unfortunately, this one also couldn't be installed.
I'm truly at a loss. Could anyone please provide information about a CSC for the M32 gearbox combined with a Z20LEx engine? I'm in a real bind.
