PPF on 2nd hand Cayman GTS 4.0
Discussion
I have a Ceramic coating & PPF on my cars for me I feel it's worth it so there are no cons.
If you're planning on putting miles on your car then for (with how suceptable modern cars are to stone chips) me it's a no brainer.
What I will say is that if you do have it done make sure you inform your insurance company as some see this as a modification & can use it as an excuse to invalidate your insurance.

How has your of been. Any issues since you had it on.
Only reservation I have is the price. For 5k I could get the chips painted out. Also there is some paint and alloy insurance k could get for the car which would cover up to 3k worth of damage so not sure whether I really need it

Only you can decide if it's worth it, my coating & (wings & bonnet) PPF came to quite a bit less than that, are you having the whole car PPF'd?How has your of been. Any issues since you had it on.

I think it mainly comes down to how long you plan on keeping the car.
If I was buying the car with the mindset of keeping it for a year or two, then PPF doesn t make sense as it doesn t really add any value to the car and unless you were to do a huge amount of mileage, you wouldn t gain much from it, it might just save a couple of stone chips or light scratches that could be polished out.
Though I would get it if I were planning on keeping a car for a much longer period as then you are really reaping the benefits of it rather than just buying it for all future owners.
Obviously if you can easily afford it without batting an eyelid, then it makes sense either way.

IMO the prices asked for PPF are pretty silly especially when most cars have templates already in the PPF manufacturer systems.
£3k to wash and decontaminate paintwork and apply PPF is insane.
Hard to see it taking more than a day
I think I will leave the ppf and just drive and enjoy the car. Might get the cover for paint and alloys. That makes more sense at £500 £3k to wash and decontaminate paintwork and apply PPF is insane.

Very true. I don’t think I will do the ppf. It isn’t going to benefit me much If I was buying the car with the mindset of keeping it for a year or two, then PPF doesn t make sense as it doesn t really add any value to the car and unless you were to do a huge amount of mileage, you wouldn t gain much from it, it might just save a couple of stone chips or light scratches that could be polished out.

Sounds expensive. I had just had a quote for front end and mirrors on an X5 - so that’s bumper, wings, bonnet and mirrors - for £1650 + vat using Xpel film. Cut to templates so no cutting near the car, a proper long standing company that does supercars and lots of those 4wd Lambos. Extended - adds sills and rear arches is £2200 + vat.
A Cayman is half the size so three grand sounds excessive.
It also depends on the paint - multilayer pearl or metallic paint might be a pita to touch in whereas you can probably get ceramic grey mixed at B&Q.
