Hello everyone,

After a 3-month search for a Mk4 R32 3-door, I finally found this beautiful Tornado Red one with 121K miles. I've always loved Tornado Red but didn’t expect to find one, thinking I’d have to settle for Deep Blue Pearl. I’m absolutely thrilled to have it—here it is on my driveway the morning after bringing it home!

What do you think?

Thanks! I knew Tornado Red Mk4s were rare, but didn't realise how rare until I started researching R32s, only 44 Tornado Red ones came to the UK. I've always been into Volkswagens, just finished restoring my Lupo Sport and the Mk4 R32 3-door has always been a favourite, so it was the natural next step.

I'll upload additional photos throughout the course of the following few days.

Lovely car and nice to see one in red. I had a MK4 Golf GT TDi from new in 2003ish and the overall quality was leagues above anything else at a comparable price at the time. That doesn’t feel the case with the latest stuff from VW.

Enjoy.

Thank you, certainly a rare sight in Tornado Red. Since I own a Lupo that is also based on the Mk4 Golf, I think it has the best build quality before drastically declining with the Mk5 Golf.

Thank you! Over the next few days, I'll upload more of my posts and update my "Build Thread" as I've had it for about a month now and have been posting a few things on another forum but thought it would be good to put it here too.

Thank you, Mk5 onwards isn't for me either; I prefer the "Boxy" and "Square" shapes of the Mk1–Mk4. I also think the Mk5 looks too tall if that makes sense.

A group of us is attempting to locate all of the Tornado Red Mk4 R32s that came to the UK; as of right now, we have located roughly 20 of them. Another group is searching for all of the Grey Anthracite Pearl Effects; so far, they have located 31 of the 33.

Like others I have never seen one in that colour. Certainly suits it.

Thank you. In my opinion, the colour is perfect for them.

Crikey, I had just assumed the only colour was blue! I have never seen a red one. I had a Tornado Red 16v Corrado, and for all the car was a bit of a lemon, it remains my favourite colour!

Any plans for alterations, or just refresh and enjoy?

Deep Blue Pearl was the most well-known and popular colour because it was the Press Cars' signature colour. However, no one really knew they came in Tornado Red because the colour was only offered for a few months towards the end of the production run. I've always wanted a Volkswagen Corrado, especially a G60.

Not much in terms of modifications; I want to have a completely bespoke stainless steel exhaust fabricated for it soon because the one I have now is a mix of Standard and Milltek which is also beginning to fail. I believe that will be the only changes made; it will be completely restored to showroom condition over the course of the next couple years.
