Nest Thermostat overriding set temp
Discussion
This is in the US so your mileage may vary.
TLDR: Had to sign up for a service I did not want to get control of my smart thermostat back.
Long version
This may not be news to some here as Nest has been setting temperatures since it came out. That was it's major selling point.
It started out as being smart and knowing when you were home. It could set temperatures for when you were in, or out. I am not talking about this.
It then went on to have eco function. This reduced energy use in the home. The Nest pops up a message to turn on and off. You can also do it in the APP. I am also not talking about this.
The next step started in Texas. Some residents noticed their thermostats had changed the set temp. There was uproar. But, these residents had received their Nest (or other) at reduced rates and signed up to allow the energy supplier to manage their thermostats in times of high demand. This was after the Texan energy system collapsed during unseasonably cold weather. I had little sympathy as these people must have known there was a reason they were getting heavily discounted products.
So what am I talking about?
Last night, I was warmer than usual. The AC had not kicked on. I woke the Nest to find a message saying like "Holding temperature at a higher setting until more environmentally friendly energy is available"
Nothing in the APP.
No way to find out what the setting was and how to turn it off.
After some googling
I found it was because my energy supplier was pushing this to me. They offer half price thermostats that they control, just like Texas. But, I bought my 3 Nests 7 years ago for full price.
The bit that annoyed me the most...
I had to sign up for Nest renew, agree to the T&Cs, to turn it off!

We have never used any of the smart features. We did not buy them for that purpose. This was caused by the Nest being on our WIFI to connect to the APP. Without our permission, our gas and electricity supplier took control and changed the temperature. I had to sign up for a service I do not want and did not approve to turn it off.

Blimey I didn’t realise they could do that?Mind you it’s owned by Google I think now so anything is fair game to them.
Might be trickier you being in the US, although I am sure there will be a Nest or similar forum more local to you maybe?
Good luck getting it sorted and sorry I am not much help!
