While your cat is outside, wait silently inside the kitchen (or similar room with wooden/linoleum/tiled floor) for the next door neighbour’s dog to frighten it. It will come storming in through the catflap at high speed with its fluffy tail following it. The panicking rear-bias 4-leg drive system then allows for some sideways entertainment:
A very gentle tap with your foot on the rear quarter is all it takes. The sudden shift in energy and momentum causes the rear legs to move round to about 45 degrees, but the front paws then apply slight opposite lock in order to keep the cat on its required trajectory (e.g. towards the door leading to the sitting room. Your cat is now genuinely drifting/powersliding.
At this point, if the timing is good, you might be lucky and can really get a good giggle:
If you got that first tap right, the rear legs are so out of shape that they will hit a chair/doorframe/table-leg/etc, causing violent snap-oversteer in the other direction, often resulting in an amusing half-spin and a look of bewilderment on the cat’s face.

Used to have a cat that almost did this itself..
It'd be sat on the patio, so leap out of the french windows and shout at the cat, he sets off down the garden and the rear bias would have him passing between the rockeries sideways!!!
We had a Dacshund (sp??) who was observed to be the 80's cop film of the dog world, he came around every corner sideways...
And a polished tile floor, a laser pointer and a dax is MOST entertaing...

Nearly right with the spelling - just missed an h - it's dachshund. Orignially used for badger hunting in Germany hence the name which translates as Badger Dog.
Tough little buggers. Good fun to be had in a long hallway with wood floors, two people (one at either end) and a ball. Chuck to each other and watch dax slip/sliding away up and down the hall. Hilarious.

Our first remote control TV (in 1976)was ultrasonically operated. When we were watching and the cat was on one or other's lap and the remote control was used, the cat would grip the thigh of whomsoever it sitting on and dig all 20? claws in - HARD!
Not a Saba TV by any chance? We used to find when the dog shaked its head the channel would change! Harmonics I presume from the chain collar?
Lasers are fun. Our dog Milly loves to play hunt the red dot.

No, Ferguson if I remember rightly. The remote control changed channels by stepping through them, and toggled between muted sound and sound-ON. Pretty simple by today's standards.
