The car is suffering from unpredictable engine cut out. Engine starts and turns over absolutely fine…. Take it for a drive, 100m or sometimes a couple of miles and sudden death. All electrics working, it just cuts out. I think that for some reason the immobiliser is causing the issue….telling the ECU to switch off the fuel pump. Possible? The engine is not even hot when this happens. It will start again, sometimes immediately…but then of course it is straight home and back in the garage. Too dangerous to drive in my opinion, don’t want to be caught on a motorway travelling at speed and the cut out happens. So, complete immobiliser bypass… I have the instructions from Dave Byron (bypass from the starter circuit done a couple of years ago) however, electrics baffle me. I’m not sure that I understand what is described in his text. Does anyone have an idiots guide with photos on how to do the full bypass?
Would be much appreciated. TIA

Have you checked the relay for the fuel pump?
The method is to swap the two identical relays that dangle in the footwell wiring nest, those marked 'fuel pump' and 'ECU', though maybe better with a spare, as clearly having a faulty relay on the ECU isn't useful.

The other thing to check is the infamous 100A fuse that sits in a small black plastic box in the cable run from the alternator - mounted on the chassis rail by the starter motor below the engine, it can cause funny behaviour if cracked (pennies to replace, or swap out for a 125A as many have done).
I have the bypass instructions with photos, albeit a little fuzzy.
Are you sure you have the Meta alarm?
I discovered that my 1995 car has the Foxguard alarm, which is actually simpler, and can be refurbished for around £50 - which I did and have been able to unpick the bypass with full reliability.
PM me your email, and I can send on whichever you need.
