Mrs BC and still have printed newspapers delivered (I know that makes us dinosaurs). We’ve just cancelled the deliveries and gone for digital only which is much cheaper.

We’ll need a second iPad so we each have something to read. I came up with a very basic pad which will just be used for the newspaper, internet and a few emails. The iPad is pretty cheap imo but what about the keyboard/case? It looks too cheap to be any good.

Any thoughts?

Not sure if you use another Mac, but you can use any Magic keyboard with an iPad it does not have to be an integrated case type.
They tend to sell on ebay at significant discounts to apple

That’s what was bothering me. The Apple keyboard case is £248 , getting on for 6 times the price.

Exactly the one I got for my wife for her iPad Air - it's faultless and does a great job

However; I've got this one for my 13" iPad Pro and really like it due to the fact it's got the iPad in a detachable case too; best of both worlds (ie keypad for when I want to type - ie as I am now on forums etc); and case only for when I wan't to read Kindle books, magazines or play a game or 2 etc

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ESR-Keyboard-Landscape-Re...

Would highly recommend it; more so over the Apple Magic Keyboard and it's mental price

That looks good though it’s not obvious which one to get for the basic iPad 11 inch I’m buying.

That’s crossed my mind but it’d still need a protective cover & display stand so I might as well get one with a keyboard.

I swear by the logitech ones - I have a slim folio that I have used with mine for 3 years or so and it has functioned perfectly in all that time protecting it really well too. Stands neatly on your lap too for reading or emails. My wife has the combo touch which has a trackpad as well but is a little more expensive. Takes its power from the ipad though so doens't need separate batteries.
