I've just clicked 'sold' button and now you need to log in to see prices.... that's the final nail in the coffin for me!
Seems bizarre, or is there an ulterior motive?

Gave up on the site a year or so ago.
Some horror stories about the condition of cars sold on the site. And dealing with the customer service was shocking. Full of arrogance.

It's an auction site, what sort of "ulterior motive" can they possibly have beyond getting people to sign up?

And as to condition of cars, again, it's an auction site. eBay with knobs on, buyer beware.

I've bought two cars through CC and I guess I've been lucky both times as they were both very good, but there are some absolute dogs which go through off the back of a valet and some flowery prose.

Don't think of it in any way as a "trusted platform" because like any auction house it's the wild west.

Probably so that you can be targeted with unwanted ads. It’s a while ago that I stopped responding to such requests. Same when you want to read an article unless it’s really vital.
