A car was coming towards me. I got all excited. "It's an Allard!" I said to myself.

It was a Morgan.

Mallard. Still holds the world speed record for a steam locomotive, set in 1938.

At least I didn't mention mistaking a second generation MR-2 for a Ferrari.

Oh.

It was red.

And is still one of the most beautiful machines ever to have been built, IMHO.

I did see one of those 'what car is this' threads on here and I put 'fiesta', turned out to be one of those old front engines porches, 928 or something. It was red.
I also one time on our local cliff top wiggly road saw what I thought was an e type coming through the z bends, when it came around the last bend I noticed the three D-shaped holes in front of the bonnet. Turned out to be a Ferrari 250 GTO type thing. That was red as well.

Indeed. I work about 20 foot away from it several days a week.
