Notice period during probabation (or not)

Contract says the employer can terminate employment at any time with one weeks notice during first 3 months.
And, at the end of the probation you will be informed in writing if it is successfully completed. If you do not receive written confirmation you should assume the probation continues.
So, first question... I assume the notice period works both ways, both parties one weeks notice during the probation?
Second question... if no written confirmation of probation completion is received that one weeks notice is still in place for both parties.

I'm guessing its at the employers discretion to allow the use of this in lieu of working their notice and they could insist on working the notice and paying leave on departure.
Usually yes as well. Though at this point it’s often beneficial if employee uses that leave as part of their notice. I'm guessing its at the employers discretion to allow the use of this in lieu of working their notice and they could insist on working the notice and paying leave on departure.
