I was in the watch section of Harrods yesterday and saw the TAG Heuer Carrera Tourbillon with the teal dial and it was honestly one of the most beautiful watches I’ve ever seen. There was no price with the watch, where all others in the room had prices with them. I looked the watch up this morning and was utterly flabbergasted at the price, £30,450.

Now, I know it’s a tourbillon and a chronograph, and it’s a lovely watch...but £30,450 for a steel TAG Heuer!? Clearly even TAG themselves were embarrassed to display the price with the watch instore. The website even has the audacity to boast that you get a ‘free’ travel pouch with the watch.

I actually really like TAG Heuer and own one myself but was so bemused at this price that I had to post it here for some options. Am I out of touch?

Tag Heuer make some really incredible super high end complication watches.

Check out the Mikrotimer Flying 1000 for an example.

It’s an odd piece for Tag to release. The LVMH stable has far more suitable brands than the sporty Tag to put out a mid range Tourbillon chrono (Zenith spring to mind) especially as Tag put out a way cheaper Tourbillon not long ago. And for £30k you’ve got to expect it in white gold surely.

It's a lovely looking thing but I think you're right, it's twice as expensive than the price that would make me give it a second thought.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t really understand the reasons why tourbillons are more than “normal” watches. It’s a lovely looking watch but surely that should be a 3rd of the price. It’s does look nice however.
