I've purchssed a scuttle from BMW, this part is stamped with VIN, BMW no longer have the tooling and say they cannot stamp the VIN in the original position, the part I've recieved loooks terrible, I could have done a better job.
Does anyone know of a company that could do this so it looks original, also forums / part resources will be useful please.

This has been the case since at least 2007 when I bought a scuttle. The issue you will face is BMW wont supply an un-stamped scuttle.

Some good resources on here

The answer is you leave the origial VIN and frame number in place from your existing scuttle and cut and weld new scuttle around your existing VIN/frame number.

I hope you’ve got deep pockets. I did one back in 2015, the costs were eye watering.

I'm realising this!!, I've owned the car for well over 20 years so it'll be worth it, someone has to do it and it's something i've always wanted to do. Fortunately mechanically its in very good order. Its a Europameister 88, 1 0f 148 made.
The scuttle is out so we did think about cutting in th eold VIN, It'll look much better.
