My wife has the hots for an iPace, tried one yesterday and we both loved it. She tends to keep her cars long term (5+ years), depreciation isn’t a worry as they’re dirt cheap already but my only concern is the ongoing servicing position now that Jaguar aren’t making cars for the time being and seem to have binned a lot of dealerships. How have other people found it so far? Have they made any kind of long term commitment to spares availability, and if they have do we think it’s worth the paper it’s written on? Not just spares but also the diagnostics for all the electrickery.

What spares? I got the impression other than the standard 12V batteries, brakes, tyres filters etc. there aren't any "spares". Availability of body parts may be limited but then if its been in an accident and won't repair you'll get a payout. Autel and other code readers will happily read any fault codes (IDS/SDD won't on iPace) Most worry about battery issues and Jaguar certainly had some in the States. A dealer would just say buy a new battery but there are specialists appearing that will take them apart and fix the cells. Don't look at the JLR network or even necessarily the Jaguar after market garages. Look for electric car specialists manufacturer codes are no longer an issue and electric specialists are the way forward.

If and when the LGBTQ+ car hits the road, the spares for older cars are extremely unlike to have the same parts number. So big ticket item like batteries, motors and software updates are like going to be very hard to source. The latter would worry me the most to me. Its not like the old days when delorean when bust and someone bought all the spare parts from the liquidators. Some new components I think are still available today,

I guess the biggest worry would be if an ECU (of which there are no doubt loads scattered around the car) dies. Not sure how much these things can be repaired. Agree that specialist garages are the way to go now that Jag is reinventing itself.

Presumably suspension parts would be one of the more common things that need replacing or some of the more 'dumb' electronic components? They're likely shared with F-Pace and Land Rovers so availability should be good for the coming years.

These will be just the same as any other car ever built. The after market will produce parts if Jaguar stop, things like the complex electronics will become well known and the specialists will be able to refurbish them just as they do now with 20 year old cars.

Lets face it you can still keep a steam engine running by knowing where the specialist are.

How old will this car be after you have kept it for 5 years?
