Did he claim counterfeit? They cant send them back then. Thats the reason iv never sold my kew gardens 50p. To easy to claim fake, show eBay a picture of a fake and they've got your coin for free.

Maybe I'm delusional and there's some type of safety net but iv been put off by too many sellers being scammed.

I have been through a very similar issue recently. Sold a trading card, buyer opted for untracked delivery, an option offered by ebay, buyer steals item, I file a dispute, ebay refunds buyer and charges me for the privilege.

You've got their address, go ask for it back directly.

Yup sadly that’s the best option

I’d probably say something along the lines of two of my adults sons live in “insert nearish road” they will pop over at some point and collect or if easier for you pop it in the post

If you think eBay customer service is bad, wait until you have an issue with Vinted.

I've been selling quite a lot online recently and have come to the conclusion that I have to accept some losses.

Write a Letter Before Action, word it properly and sign it, send it via Ebay's messaging system.

1. Check the return case details on eBay:
Go to My eBay > Returns or Resolution Centre.
Read the exact reason the item was not returned and the case outcome.
There should be a timeline and eBay s notes.
2. Appeal the decision (if possible):
If you have clear evidence (e.g. photos, accurate description, proof the item was as described), you can appeal.
Go to the closed case and look for a Send appeal or Dispute decision button.
Appeals must usually be made within 30 days.
3. Contact eBay Support directly:
Explain clearly: I agreed to a return, but the buyer has been refunded and kept the item. Can I appeal?
Use chat or phone it s often quicker and more effective than messaging.
4. Report the buyer (if applicable):
If you believe the buyer scammed you or abused the system, you can report them to eBay.
This won t get your money back, but it can flag the buyer for future action.

Example of What to Say to eBay

I sold a coin set. The buyer requested a return, which I accepted. Now I see they were refunded and told to keep the item. I m out £40 and didn t receive my item back. Can this be reviewed? The item was exactly as described, and I have evidence.

On what basis has the buyer rejected the item?

Good luck with that.

My wife's friend sold an item on Vinted, the post office lost it despite it being sent by a tracked method. Vinted refunded the buyer then banned my wife's friend!

Don't do business with those that hold you in contempt.

Yeah, Vinted refunded the buyer when I sent something via a tracked method. The system didn't update in time so assumed it hadn't been sent and cancelled the order.

When I complained, with evidence that it had been delivered, they suggested I relist and ask the buyer to buy it again.
