DVLA driving licence fraud. Heads up to PH
Discussion
A heads up to all PH.
A few wks back DVLA wrote to me notifying fraud on my DVLA account.
DVLA say they altered the address on my account. They then issued a new driving licence to the new fraudulent address.
They did all this in February 2025, only informing me they noticed the fraud in June 25!
It s worth noting that DVLA take no responsibility for notifying the account holder/licence owner of ANY changes on your account so you will be totally unaware.
Consider this most UK licences won t expire for 10 years or certainly a long time. Drivers won t have reason to check their licence is still registered to their address. It s entirely possible DVLA have already reissued it in your name to a fraudulent address, and you would never know.
Thanks DVLA, what a f ing shambles you are.

To update this
It appears there are plenty of people affected by this scam.
Once again DLVA strike me as an utter shambles.
Everything in this case points to them sending new driving licences fraudulently obtained to ......a lock up garage! It takes literally 5 seconds to check on google maps.

It's all automated though isn't it? Can't see them getting an actual person to reference Google Maps for every licence they issue. It appears there are plenty of people affected by this scam.

But you do have my sympathy.

That and a mot for your car £75. No need to attend.
I'd forgotten about that. You're right. This is the exact reason the DVSA are going to introduce a requirement to photograph the car on the MOT ramphttps://mattersoftesting.blog.gov.uk/how-were-comb...
Pretty easy around me to get an MOT pass with a sweetener. There is a huge increase in uninsured drivers or unrecognised cars in Sheffield now. Including Taxis.
To be fair a decent old Golf or Focus can be had for 500 quid with a hooky MOT . You'd need 10 lessons at least and then need command of English to pass a test. also if you live in a multiple occupancy house in takeaway land good luck to getting insurance under 2 grand. So even if the non existent DVLA enforcement turned up and crushed your 500 quid car your may 3000 plus ahead. No endorsement because you've no license, No fines because you've no real address.
All available services like number plates can be purchased cheaply at sign shops with the machinery without any paperwork .Just bought a set for my bike rack and he didn't even ask for my name.
Really good copies of official documents etc can be found by even by a casual enquirer at any Eastern European café. And generally there's a knocking shop upstairs while you wait.
The council have put a police surcharge increase on my rates this year. Its become lawless in many area's.
. A total joke.
