TBH, it's looks st.
Like they mixed John Wick with The Truman Show.

Best bit of the original was Richard Dawson being Richard Dawson, doesn't look like this one quite found equivalent casting.

The best bit of the original was Maria Conchita Alonso...

This one is (hopefully) an actual adaptation of the book. I'll be really surprised if they've kept the same ending though.

Don’t mind the idea. The original had a lot of squandered potential

Well now we've seen the trailer, i guess can skip the film!

I'll watch the original instead, or re-read the book. This seems to have captured the good bits of neither! Keep the cheezy / rediculous stuff like someone missing a guy running down a straight corridor with 4 shotgun shots, but drop the arnie comedy 1 line crap? Playing catch with a grenade with 3m separation?

I swear modern hollywood is aiming for the same sort of level of thought as youtube shorts...

Agreed, as a big fan of the 80s and 90s actions films the original still has an appeal for me (I bought it on VHS from Britannia Video IIRC) but it's seriously flawed in a few areas and would benefit from a decent remake.

It was quite satirical of the game shows of the time, with the original set in 2025 and the US a totalitarian dystopia it might be more of a documentary now.

I'm just not entirely convinced this is that decent remake, I'll give it a go though.

The trailer looks very similar to John Cena's Jackpot! from last year.

Edgar Wright makes great movies though so fingers crossed

Loads of locations recognisable from around Glasgow, including the Anderston Centre/Cadogan Sqaure (where the large Running Man billboard with the clock is displayed), St Vincent Street, Bothwell Street and the Alea Casino at Springfield Quay.

Didn't even get to the end of the trailer to be honest.

I thought the original was great in it's day, Arnie at his best and those cracking one-liners.

Never read the book so I have no idea if the Arnie version or this reboot is closer, but to be honest the concept of the Arnie film was great in my eyes.

I'll watch it..... as and when it lands on TV somewhere.

Maybe muddled up with Total Recall?

The Running Man was nearly 40 years ago, how scary is that!?
