Identify 1950s/60s Ferrari
Discussion
Hi, does anyone know what Ferrari had a reg number "68 MM"?. I have a photo of this Ferrari which was taken by my dads friend sometime in the late 60s at a motoring event, not sure which but possibly at Oulton Park. I have been searching through all of the period racing Ferrari's of the 1950s and 60s and I can't find anything that seems to match the one in the photo I have. I can't seem to attach a photo on here for some reason.

Still won't let me upload a photo. I'll do my best to try and describe it if that helps. This Ferrari appears to be a fixed head coupe or has a hardtop fitted, only shows the front and I can't tell if it has any side vents. The headlights appear to similar in style to a California Spyder, they are flushed with the body and are covered, but the front seems to be rounder and wider in shape, and no bumpers are fitted. There is a white "46" racing number on the bonnet. I have another photo which may show the same Ferrari has there is a number 46 on the side, in this photo it is on the track being followed by a white Jaguar D-Type, it has the familiar Ferrari 3 side vent slats, covered headlights and is a fixed head.

250 GT Berlinetta TdF pure gues
Yeah it looks like you maybe right from what you said there from looking at photos of the GT Berlinetta. Definitely looks like the one in the photo, though the air intake looks a slightly different shape, it's flatter at the top and bottom, but maybe they were all slightly different. There's no mention of it being raced in the UK at any motoring circuit in the late 60s on the Bachetta.cc website using the chassis number mentioned above. Without being able to attach the photos I have does anyone know where the photos I have may've been taken at? Oulton Park is just a guess really and the person who took the photo is now dead so can no longer ask him. In the other photo I have, which shows it on the track with the white D-Type behind it, further up there's a walkway or bridge in the style of a tyre going over the track with "Dunlop" on it.

The mystery continues.
UK owners during the 1960's were a Mr John Broad & Sir Lovelace Anthony Stamer.
Sir Stamer was very active with the Bugatti, Ferrari & Bentley Owners' Clubs at that time and often had motor sport-related articles published in Motor Sport magazine and the VSCC Bulletin.
Maybe he ventured on track with 68 MM but I can't find any specific references. The car at rest :

I guess these days it would be the equivalent of opening your garage doors in suburbia to reveal an Audi R18 e-tron or similar. Not sure that I'd leave it in the Silverstone car park though…
(just a thought T33, maybe you could forward your photo by PM to one of us PH veterans who could then post your photo - I think the system allows this ?)

Racing didn't return to Donington (post-war) until 1977. The Dunlop Bridge was one of the stand-out features of the revitalised circuit.
As part of Ecclestone's game of very silly 4D chess the circuit made an ill-advised bid to replace Silverstone as host of the British GP in the late noughties. As a prequel the existing circuit was hacked to pieces and the bridge removed.
TV's most famous Ginger person purchased the dismantled bridge at auction in 2012 for £250.
Possibly a bargain ?
