What say I win the bidding and my 6% and VAT have been taken out of my account then the buyer pulls out ? Do I get my money back from PistonHeads?

From the T&Cs

No Refunds.
The Vehicle Sale Fee and Buyer’s Fee are final and binding upon the Buyer winning the auction. PistonHeads will not issue any refunds for the Buyer’s Fee.

Just me confused by this post? Winning the bidding then the buyer pulls out? Isn't that... you?

Based on their only other post, my guess is that they bid on this - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Looks like that ended on 30/06, so OP won it with a last minute bid, then decided to start asking questions about the car that they should have asked while the auction was ongoing, then decided they want out after the owner posted a reply to their question on the auction thread.

odd post ? You do understand how auctions work ?

You are the Buyer , You placed a Bid , You won the auction , from the close of the auction the car is yours so all fees are payable any deposits , VAT etc are deductible from the end of the auction.

So no, if you have changed your mind , terms and conditions are clear , you wont get your money back

why did you bid in the first place ?

Unfortunately this happens - buyers get cold feet (i.e. chicken out) when they realise it’s a real process and their bidding might involve spending money. I experienced this a few years ago as a seller. Leading bidder pulled out (legal apparently) then claimed the sale of their car had fallen through and they couldn’t go through with the purchase.

In my case I accepted the second highest bid, and on the auction site I used I was responsible (as seller) for the auction fee. In this case I am glad that the OP is responsible for the fee as there should be a cost to messing people about.
