Anyone got any decent chip shops in Bridlington or close and decent burgers in York?

Fish and chips in Brid. North beach fish and chips is good. Harbour fisheries and Fish and chips at 149 are also pretty good.
York, depends on what you want. Spark has a number of food outlets, Baby boys burgers and clucking oinks both good. "Restaurant" wise, fat hippos have always been OK, Byron is fine or sloppys bar and kitchen

149 at Bridlington is good for takeaway.

If you want the best in the area and rather sit down then take a 30 min ride to Hornsea and go to Whiteheads. Always fantastic.

Busy Bees is our favourite chippy in Brid, they have three I think, but the one on South Marine Drive/West Street is our regular haunt.

Actually just googled this before the post as freezing my nuts off on the beach (how can the north be cold when it's 30 degrees FFS! as cricket was too hot and terribly boring, and one days more than enough tbh) and saw it will give it a try. The suggestion to drive up to Whitby was met with disdain. So Hornsea I think it will be.

Must say the wolds are pretty nice. Not an area I'm at all familiar with having been to scarbados once many years ago.

If you want to eat inside just check the restaurant opening times which are a bit shorter than the takeaway.

Regards the weather, I’m just 30 miles south of scarborough on the coast and it was 30C here today. I just think the hot front cut off a bit north of us and to the west. Definitely cooler tomorrow.

Got there at 7.03. Stopped serving at 7...takeaway...annoying...tried calling on the way to order a collection as bombed it but iffy phone signal killed that idea...quick look at Hornsea and back to brid had a look at 149 looked a bit iffy from outside so didn't bother mooched round the harbour for a bit everywhere shut and we gave up.

Awful lot of dolled up 12 year-olds wandering around seemed slightly odd... don't even get that in Essex! Bridlington was ok though, I think it may be a bit off-putting come school holidays or sunny weekend however.

Had a excellent run back to York though, empty fast roads, lovely evening, rolling scenery. Gorgeous. Just a shame was in the big blob and not one of the sportier numbers as the road are great a166 and 614. May have to do a special trip up here and explore the wolds more.

As I say Bridlington was ok but too many sodding traffic lights when a roundabout would do the job fine.

As for the cold. I meant the beach was despite it being 30 degrees. Chill wind and this evening was positively Baltic! Sea was nice temp...perhaps should have checked bathing quality but some of the crap we get in Cornwall I should be immune.

York is a nice temp now but will be cold tomorrow.

We stopped at the Deep Blue (in Wetwang) in the past, always busy. Roughly halfway between York and Brid.

The Battle of Stamford Bridge site is nearby too.

I know I know and never judge a book but...it really doesn't look much.

Admittedly my respective locals that I rate ..fish shop in writtle and sharkies in st Ives don't look very choice at all from outsode...or in in writtles case, but 149 didn't look appealing after disappointment of Hornsea

Thompsons on the way back to York is fantastic also, around an hour from Brid just near the new Starbucks that opened on the A64. Both the takeaway and the seated restaurant serve lovely food.

149 as a previous poster states is lovely.
The place right at the top of North bay also lovely, just off the beach (apologies don t recall the name).

If you like your roads and head North through Scarborough into North Yorkshire, there are some fantastic driving roads around Goathland etc

You could also hook past this place, worth a look next time you re up (closed Sundays) .

Wetwang is better than anything found at the coast.

We regularly drive from York to get Fish & Chips there.
