Don't have recent experience with either, but I think it's luck of the draw really and down to whether you get a good fitter, which obviously you only know about after the job is completed biggrin

Whichever one has the screen for your car!

I'm having a mare with getting mine replaced after it cracked. Mine has blue tinted windscreen and side windows which they no longer make (OEM or aftermarket), fingers crossed but tomorrow is my *third* appointment (I booked the replacement over a month ago). First one turned up with a poverty spec clear screen... they went away to see if there was a blue screen anywhere. Came back again with a green screen which would have looked odd but if that's all they have, that's all they have. Except that was the wrong one as well with the mask for the sensors all wrong!

Fingers crossed for the next one.

A lot of blue glass is no longer produced so once supplier stock runs out that will be it.

If either of you book with Auto Windscreens feel free to PM and I can look in to it for you.

Imho Autoglass are a shower of st and I try to avoid them at all costs. Crack in my windscreen, forced to use them by insurance co; 7d after a phone call still car not booked in.

A few years ago they had to replace my screen x3 times as they kept getting it wrong - wipers didn't auto work.

TX.

I've had 2 screens replaced by Autoglass and in both cases the Auto wipers never worked as well with the new screens.

So when I got a chip in my current car's screen and Saga appointed Auto Windscreens I was relieved when they said they could repair it, especially as there was no excess for a repair. biggrin

Is National Windscreens on your approved list? Their Banbury branch did the screen on my Benz about 18 months ago. My car has every built-in sensor and camera available and it all still works perfectly. Outstanding customer service and comms as well. Would absolutely be my go-to place if I needed the job done again.

Auto Windscreens, wipers didn’t initially work as there was an air bubble visible? Sorted itself out in under the week though.
Cost £265 as didn’t go through insurance…

National took 5 attempts at fitting a screen on my car 2 years ago repeatedly turning up with scratched screens. Mobile fitter.
Who ever comes to do it get them to clean and check the screen before they fit it.

Autoglass were utterly ste with me.
30cm crack = I was told to not drive the car.
Three weeks later, they admit they don't have a V70 windscreen and tell me it's many weeks to order 'from factory'. I was also told that the car was fine to drive, despite thier own website and phone advice initially.

Another 2 weeks later I find a local company with a screen in stock, so tell my insurer and Autoglass either they buy that screen and fit, or they pay the local company to fit. Computer says no.

Proper complaint cc'ing in insurance ombudsman and policy cancelled...leads to a phone call the next day.

And a windscreen badly fitted a day later.
So they came back the next day to refit it.

Brewery.
Drinking.
Unable.

Next one has turned up... It's green. frown

I mean I'm going to have it fitted as that's the only option now for them. As mine is cracked its not like I can just keep going with the old one!

Would likely be an MOT failure regardless.

Irritating. Not really obvious from the outside (but then again the interior is blue!)

It's obvious when you're looking for it from the inside as the view through the screen and the side windows is very slightly differently shaded now but equally easy to miss if you're not as after all the tint is only very very light in the first place. Obviously if the side windows weren't also blue tinted (and so now a different colour to the screen) then you'd have to _know_ it was meant to be blue!

I tried to take a photo from the inside looking through both the side and windscreen at the same time to show the difference but it doesn't really show in a picture (and the focus is on the A-pillar rofl).

I'll try and take a few more later with something as a background to see if you can make out the difference in a photo but I suspect it just won't show.

I'm certain Huzzah was talking about the colour difference not if the crack was obvious!

...and yes, while it wasn't blocking my line of sight of the road[1] it would I'm certain have been an MOT fail. It had to be changed, there wasn't any way I could avoid it.

[1] It was a single semi-circular crack about 80cm long or so that ran from the bottom of the screen up to about 10cm high and then back down to the bottom of the screen, pretty much central on the screen and it only obscured the bonnet.
