Octopus powerpack (BYD Dolphin + V2G + Free Charging)

Not an EV as such but Octopus have launched a deal for £299 a month (7500 miles a year) that comprises of a leased BYD Dolphin, bi-directional charger and free EV charging for the life of the lease.

And yes, had an EV for 4 years and yes it lost range and that was just with my usage... let alone it being cycled to the grid.

Am still at 97% capacity.
Can't the BYD Dolphin be charged to 100% regularly without issues because the battery is LFP?
Here is a study estimating battery the impact of V2G on batteries.
"The results show that V2G increases the battery degradation rate by 9 % - 14 % over 10 years.
Unlike the calender degradation process which contributes 85 % to 90 % of total degradation over 10 years without V2G, the cyclic degradation process contributes only 10 % to 15 %, which increases to 20 % - 25 % with V2G for different sub-scenarios.
As V2G only contributes to cyclic degradation, the results show an average of 0.31 % increase in total degradation per year due to V2G for 33 charging/discharging cycles."

Octopus press release doesn't say exactly which BYD Dolphin model will be offered in this deal, but everything points to the Dolphin Active with the 45kwh battery given the press release mentions 210 miles of range, which is what the Active is rated for.
However, online reviews seem to suggest efficiency drops significantly over 50mph, so it's best as a city car.
A 94bhp motor, 0-60 mph time of 12.3sec and 65kw max charging speed makes it sound like it's going to primarily appeal to city dwellers.

The Powerpack tariff already exists and lots of info provided in the FAQ on their website, e.g regarding your concern “How will you make sure my EV is charged in case of emergency

This level must be set at less than 30% so that we can still discharge from your vehicle to support the grid when it’s at its dirtiest.”

Interesting reading and clearly T&Cs might change for this deal. I however wouldn't be able to cope with "you can only charge 210kwh a month". i average about 3.3m/kwh and with wastage that's about 650 miles.
However it is my main car and i assume those with the Dolphin deal would have a 2nd car for longer journeys.

You only getting 3.3 miles per kwh, I thought the Dolphin seems to get 4 miles per kwh in the real world (as long as you avoid motorways)?Interesting reading and clearly T&Cs might change for this deal.
