Hi all,

I am currently looking to change up my car, i currently drive a 2010 petrol audi TT, but i do about 50 miles a day for work and I'm not massively enjoying the fuel bills every month. So i think i am looking for an auto diesel estate that looks "cool".

Initially, i was looking at e91 330d but really struggling to find a nice one in my budget, so i am looking for some more suggestions. I like the look of the B7 Passats on some lowering springs, but any more ideas are very much welcomed.

Thanks

Your budget makes it hard but remember pretty much every car can look good lowered with a decent set of alloys.

Everything above has a conventional auto box (at this price point I'd avoid dual clutch autos) but I'd budget a gearbox fluid & filter change.

You could go 320d and get a decent remap which would really improve its driveability, prices are high though.
Passats are good as are Merc C Classes, you could get a nice C250 for your budget but they are a little harder to find.
Very similar to what I am looking for at the moment, I have looked at a lot but I am a Merc and VW fan so am leaning that way at the moment.
A 330d will be hard to find at that price but some do pop up, will have moon mileage probably.
There are some very good value cars around if your willing to consider Ford and Vauxhall etc.

That’s not enough to be honest. You will be looking at insignias and ropey V60’s, I’d recommend the latter

I kind of disagree about the price, there are some nice cars around. This should be available for £4k, probably the nicest looking wagon in my opinion.

That Peugeot looks pretty good value, actually. Any horror stories with that engine/transmission? My parents had a 3008 with the automated manual and - not only was it a horrendous gearbox - it shat itself.

It may just be worth considering the following:
If you're doing 250 miles per week for work, I calculate that as circa £55 per week in fuel, even if you got something twice as economical you would only be saving yourself just over £100 per month...

Sometimes the option is to keep the car you know, a different story if you want to change the TT anyway....

50 miles a day, and you want to save money, you could look at cheap EVs.

Your nearly in i3 territory at £4k now, and have a fair choice of leaves.

No these are nothing like that horrific gearbox, they're good,
