Vera C. Rubin Observatory

The Vera C. Rubin Observatory have a press conference at 11:00 EDT (4pm) Monday to unveil the first pictures taken with its 8.4-meter Simonyi Survey telescope and 3.2-gigapixel digital camera.

These are only test pictures taken recently. It starts its proper observing later this year. It can cover the whole Southern Hemisphere every 3 days.
