I enjoy reading these threads so thought I would do one today.

I've agreed to buy a car from eBay that I haven't seen at the other end of the country. So far I've been on a couple of trains and had a night in a Premier Inn. I'm now a little over an hour away from meeting the seller and if all goes well I'll be driving the new one home.

It's a replacement for a 987.1 Boxster S which was sadly written off recently after someone drove into it in a car park.

I'm paying roughly the same amount I got from the Boxster. It's one of the cheapest examples currently for sale, has high miles but a decent service history and lots of receipts.

Any guesses?

I wish. A friend has one and they're lovely.

Sadly they're at least 4 times more expensive than I'm paying for my new car.

Mine was registered in 1999.

I do like a TT but not this time.

It is German though.

10 points.

Loved the Porsche ownership experience so decided to try a 996. It's a tiptronic which wasn't my first choice but read and watched a lot on YouTube so decided to give it a try.

I've got a Honda ENY:1 and a Mégane 225 so if this does go catastrophically wrong it can stay off the road for a while.

That must have been a great trip home then!

New car looks really smart too.

That looks really good. Interested to read more about it! Any reason it was so cheap?

Thanks, doesn't look 26 years old! Trip home was very long but I did go for a walk along the beach with some fish and chips which was lovely.

P911 plate. It's tempting to sell it but will see.

It's done 164,000 miles and it was in St Ives, which I think might have put a few people off. I've done a few hundred miles in it now and it's great. It needs to be noisier though.

Driven it to work this morning and the tiptronic gearbox was great in the standard M1 traffic.

At home with the Mégane. I need to get on with widening the driveway and clearing out the garage.

Very simple mod today to get bluetooth streaming with the factory radio and upgraded sound package.

Bought one of these (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08DJ58SNB) from Amazon and it plugs in where the CD changer plugs in, very simple and works well.
