Cheapest House
Discussion
I am giving a talk on Council Tax next week. I could do with the address and a photo of the cheapest house in England that anyone knows of that is being marketed or has recently sold.
My intention being to compare it the value of it and the council tax it pays with the most expensive house.
So if you happen to know a really cheap house near you and can send me its address and a photo of it I’d be grateful.

How much does it cost to empty the bins in each case?Surely the cost of a service or product shouldn't depend the wealth of an individual, or the value of their property?

If that s the case why have a banding system at all? We should have a personal charge. Surely the cost of a service or product shouldn't depend the wealth of an individual, or the value of their property?

£20k in east Lancs, 2 bed cottage in Colne
Just one example, lots around that price
Liverpool city council were selling run down houses for £1 but I'm not sure if that scheme is still going on

It's only a component of council funding. Those councils with very high levels of other forms of income generation don't need to charge much for living there.
Those that don't, do.

I can t imagine anyone living in a £15k house pays council tax You can apply if you own your home, rent, are unemployed or working.

Exactly. We're all paying it for millions of households in the U.K.
It's part of the 'miscellaneous' amount in our breakdowns. Which in the case of Campden was around 80% at one point.
