Emptied the dishwasher just now and there is about an inch of water in the bottom. There is a steady drip coming from the circular plastic piece in the left of the picture.

Does anyone know what it is and why it maybe dripping?

Thanks!

That's the fill port if other people's similar questions with similar photos elsewhere are a guide.

If water is coming from it all the time then you might have a dirty/sticking/leaking inlet control valve? If it's just for a little bit & stops then it's just draining.

Dishwashers are simple things so it's usually quite easy to get at the working parts if you need to fiddle.

Have you removed and cleaned the filter in the bottom? also when you remove the filter there's usually a small cover you can remove which will expose the impeller to pump the water out, I've had that blocked previously.

Thanks both. I did remove the drain cover this morning and pulled out some debris. Time will tell if that solves the issue!

Remove the drain cover on the bottom of the machine: rinse and scrub it clean. Remove the filter from it, run that under a tap to clean.
Reach into drain hole in the bottom of the machine. You will feel a small plastic cover piece with a tab on it. Push down the tab (I think, it might be lift it up) and the cover piece will come away. Reach into the hole behind where it was and you should be able to feel the impeller with the tip of your finger. make sure it isn't blocked and turns freely. If it doesn't, clear it, then replace the cover piece, filter and drain cover.

Should be good to go then

I've got an old Gaggenau/Bosch that sticks on "1 minute" at the end of its program.

Apparently a well know issue that involves a sticking relay on/in the main control board. Simple replacement.

Regrettably the boards are "no longer available". Bummer. It's barely out of warranty.... (Errrm, 23 years old.)

If there was a problem with the impeller it would throw up a fill / drain error.

The impeller cover releases with a sort of lever that sticks up - Bosch suggest using a spoon to release it but it unclips easily enough with fingers. It can be tricky to put it back and often doesn t snap into place nicely, and it has to right as the main filter locks down onto it, so I d avoid removing it if you re not dextrous.
