Easy upgrade to Emira Audio
Discussion
A chap posted on the Emira FB group earlier. When you turn the volume knob in front of the gearshift, the volume line appears on the centre screen. The end of that volume line shows an arrow, that points down. Press that arrow and a sub menu appears for audio. The first line on that sub menu shows another line, which is volume. On my car it was about 65% of the way up. I’ve altered it to 95% of the way up.
Immediately, on turning the volume up, the system is much louder. If only I’d bothered reading the manual, I might have known. Try it!

There's a manual? Now they tell me.Immediately, on turning the volume up, the system is much louder. If only I d bothered reading the manual, I might have known. Try it!
Both. I’d equate to having your phone connected to a Bluetooth speaker. You turn up the volume on the speaker but, if the volume on your phone is set very low, you need to increase via buttons on the phone to increase volume on the speaker. On my car the factory setting was about 60% before adjusting.
Some people seem to think the KEF system is poor
My old hearing does not think so, its good enough for listening to music in a car.
Others have spent thousands upgrading it, to what they feel is what it should have been out of the factory. Some of these are also people that question the cost of the Emira new

Yeah, seen that. IME most people who say that never bothered to adjust the settings properly. I think it sounds great too. My Elise was the same, it had a great head unit, which many changed because they simply didn't take the time to set it properly. My old hearing does not think so, its good enough for listening to music in a car.

What issues? Does yours not have the KEF system?
For me it sounds OK when the car is stationary but not so much at speed when it's trying to compete with engine and road noise. They didn't put any tweeters behind the small grilles at the front and the sub doesn't produce enough bass. There are several lengthy threads on the owners forum with people performing various DIY speaker upgrades to try and improve the soundstage. It's not terrible, but it's not "premium" either. Audi B&O and BMW HK systems are in a different league. I am considering replacing the sub in mine with an after market option like the Kicker Hideaway. This would also provide an opportunity to disable the piped engine sound that's fed to the KEF sub in the I4.
