Following on from " The modern car" thread on General gassing are there any new cars on which it is easy to turn off the ADAS systems, have a nice simple dashboard, gauges and instrument panel with physical buttons for heating and ventilation ?

Mazda MX-5 is pretty analogue.

You could drive it forever without using the touch screen if you wanted.

Don't think it has changed much since 2022 when my car was built.

Although no longer sold in the UK but still available new in Australia, the Hyundai i20N probably fits that bill.
Manual gearbox.....check
Physical buttons for most functions.......check
Proper handbrake.......check
Permanent turn off for lane assistance......check
One button for stop start.....check
Conventional easy stalks for lights and wipers.....check

EDIT: 5 door, room for the family when you go somewhere and also geat fun when there not with you.

Might be a squeeze to get the whole family in it but, yes, there’s nothing digital about a Seven regardless of age. biggrin

I also feel that Mazda offer what I like to think of as modern, old cars.

I have an mx5 ND2. It has a touch screen which I never use other than keeping it set on Nav with the map showing. You can easily turn off things like lane departure warning and traction control at the touch of a button. I just leave them alone as they don't bother me.

If you want a family size car then you could always look at the Mazda3, cx30, cx5 etc. The Mazda3 in particular I like because..

Manual box
Naturally aspirated engine
Good quality
Analogue dials and switches
Nice looking
Isn't an SUV

Another shout for the MX5. Just got rid of my ND2 and considering you can still purchase new it's crazy how old school it feels. Vibrations out of the gear stick, feeling the weight distribution change when you lift off the throttle.

Is the modern day swift sport not pretty lightweight/manual etc etc.

This or a base base spec Dacia of some description springs to mind.

Yup the only answer. Dacia sandero gets away with the bare minimum needed for ncap too.

Even their base Spring model has manual air con controls, no screen(!), seats are all manual

Base spec Skoda Scala/Octavia would be my nomination.

You'd be wrong though, even the 'base' model Scala has digital instruments.

As others have said, the MX5 is very analogue so perhaps try another from the Mazda range big enough for your needs.

In the ND2 MX5 I turned the lane keep assist off when I first got it - and it stays off! No need to do it again every time you start the engine.

Also Mazda are famously known for being focused on weight saving, so one of their regular hatches may feel more engaging and responsive.

Alternatives would be the i30 or i20. I think the i20 has a digital screen dash but the i30 is dials etc (at least the N versions are).

That's not the base model, but anyway you're right in so far that the base model does have a selectable analogue style speedo, albeit it on a screen rather than a physical needle in a physical dial. The car otherwise meets the imprecisely worded requirements in the OP, and is IMHO a class above going absolute poverty with the Dacia Sandero, which I admit strictly speaking does out-mingebag the Skoda.

Will depend on OP's budget and real world appetite for mingebagery, I expect.

Was disappointed to notice that FIAT have withdrawn the mingebag Tipo from UK sale whilst pondering the OP's ask. I like those. Astonished to see the range down to essentially 3 models - 500, 600 and Panda. Wow.

Thanks for all the replies, Skoda is a good call. In addition I believe the 2025 A3 has buttons for heater and a single button on indicator stalk to disable ADAS
