After a great weekend at Spa last year with the family on the end of a holiday in Belgium, I'm considering a Zandvoort trip for the last Grand Prix next year. It doesn't fall within our school holidays but we would possibly do a trip as foot passenger on the ferry to Amsterdam, stay there (or nearby) and get trains out to the grand prix.

Any tips for seats and travel? We only got general access tickets for Spa as it gets expensive with 2 kids in tow, but that worked well with plenty of good vantage points. Are cheaper tickets at Zandvoort reasonable?

I believe Zandvoort have announced that they won't be hosting a GP after 2026. So there may well be a rush for tickets, and a large contingent of Dutch supporters who want to make sure it goes out on hell of a party!

That could be either a good or a bad thing depending on your opinion of rowdy dutchmen and techno music! smile

Does anyone know why Zandvoort is being dropped, money? No profit?

According to this English-language Dutch newspaper, it was the circuit’s decision.

https://nltimes.nl/2024/12/04/dutch-grand-prix-zan...

Reading between the lines, they have the same issue as Silverstone that there’s no government support, and don’t want to renew (at likely escalating annual hosting fees) past the career of a certain Dutch driver. Like Silverstone, they need the place totally sold out for all three days to make the finances work, and it’s all rather marginal as an event.

In all seriousness I dont think Silverstone are struggling now, they just spent 9 million on a go kart track you dont do that if you are scraping a living.

Attendees not really motorsport fans . Just riding the wave of max mania.
While UK are happy to destroy peoples lives local to any event for a fast buck, the dutch dont think like that.
Bye Bye annoying event in the dunes.

While Dutch public transport is fantastic , it probably gets overloaded come GP time. I’d get a hotel somewhere close and ride a bicycle to the circuit. It’s what the locals do.
Maybe stay at Noordwijk aan Zee or similar, it’s a great place.

We did it last year, living in delft we just got the train / they run extra ones to Zandvoort (called the ‘Max Express’) and then there’s a route from the station that you follow to the circuit with concession stands and whatnot on the way. You walk along the promoenade along the beach which is nice.

The circuit is very small and tight inside. There’s not a lot to do other than sit and watch racing or buy and eat chips and beer - the buying and eating is wall organised though.

We had seats at the end of the main straight which we got last-minute (very lucky). Pretty good place to sit - braving zone for the first corner and a large screen opposite to watch the rest of the track.

After the race, the herd you back to the station and it’s a looooooooooooong wait. I recommend you head into Zandvoort and grab drinks and dinner until the masses have left.

The other option is to drive and park at one of the car parks with bicycles included for the ride to the circuit itself.

I’m keen on this too. Any tips on best websites to get tickets for 2026? I take it it’s only ‘register interest’ at this stage

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll keep an eye on seating ticket prices and decide.

I've realised that the ferry plan doesn't work since the kids (and Mrs Pixelmix!) would be late back for school on Monday so we probably need to look at flights to Amsterdam.

Austria would appeal as part of a two week holiday instead, but doesn't work with school holidays in 2026 either.
