Hi all, I know the topic has been covered in the past but I have not seen any recent updates (sorry if I missed some !)

Are the Michelin pilot 4S still the best tyres to run on db11 (68reg) ? Or has there been new variants of late ?

Traction and getting all that power down is sometimes "interesting"

Looking for an all year Tyres as it's a daily and only car. Week days in London and weekends as far as the a full tank refill gets us !

Many thanks

I would certainly stay clear of Pirelli as they are quite poor when cold.

It seems to be taking ages for the PSS5 to become available outside of OEM initial fitment.

As the only realistically decent option to the (now somewhat ageing but still good) PS4S I would take a look at the Continental SportContact 7 if you can get them in the required size.

Without reading any very recent reviews ... I understand the Continental Sport Contact 7 are widely admired. The 4S is still a great tyre but I know a few that have fitted the 5 to Vantages and tend to like them.

I think come tyre replacement time I will be going the way of the Continentals.

there is only 1 tire its pirelli, its different, you can trully saved your car with these, those using michelin, its purely for the longevity nothing else, the gum of pirelli used quicker but it holds until last kms, the rest of brand i doubt it really.

Replaced the Potenzas with PS4S a couple of weeks ago on the DB11AMR. The PS4S are much much quieter and more grippy (due to them being new). Happy with them. Couldnt find the right sizes for the PS5S.

The PZero is certainly different - very good in mild ambient temperatures and when the tyre is warmed up - but it’s truly awful in the cold!
18 degrees C here this morning and the hard sidewalls still skipped when reversing on lock.

Each to their own though.

There isn’t such a tyre though - what was it you were looking at?

There’s a PS5 (without the end S for sport), and a PSS5, which is only an OEM fitment and still not properly released as a retail purchase.

I’ve seen this commonly on the Ftypeforums where people variously quote PS4’s and PS4S as being the same tyre.

Pretty sure it was PS5S which makes sense.

Pretty sure it wasn’t wink

Joking aside, it will almost certainly have been the PSS5 you were looking at...

Which actually has now been released in certain sizes for retail purchase...

Not sure on the middle one listed, but the top and bottom ones are Mercedes spec. compound.

Yes you are correct I hadn't noticed the S moving places in the PS5 naming convention. So have you found them listed with the correct sizes for DB11, I couldnt find rears the right size (295/35 r20)?

There are currently just these 3 AML compound spec. 21" sizes available

https://www.tyrelabelling.eu/EU/2020-740/en/170831...

These will be the OEM ones fitted to the current Vantage - interesting to see they are Acoustic versions.

Yet 75dB is not the quietest tyre and the non-acoustic front tyre version has the same noise rating.

Yes, it's frustrating that no 20" versions are released yet - I'd be interested in them for my AM6 Vantage Roadster too.

...and I purposely didn't want a 21" wheel (like on the F1 Edition) because I want to tour in the car and enjoy it as a GT and not a pseudo track car.

I haven't checked any prices but I doubt they will be cheaper than a PS4S, and since the Continental SportContact 7 is also not available in the 20" sizes I need it will likely be a set of PS4S that I go for when the time comes later this year.

Let us know what you go for.

From when I was checking there seemed to be only 2 options if you want to improve on the terrible 007 Bridgestone. MPS4S or the Potenza Sport (better grip than 4s, lower price but much worse rolling resistance and wear).

The Potenza Sport will not be around much longer despite not being an old tyre due EU regs.

Got to hope the 5S or the new Pzero is released in these sizes…..

I just went with Contis on my DB9 and I love them, I have the Mich 4S on a couple of my other cars and they are good, but the one thing I hated was all the debri that stick to the 4S's that constantly you hear "ticking and tanging" at slow speeds, this is almost totally eliminated with the Contis and should reduce nicks and sandblasting of some of the lower rocker and quarter areas behind the wheels. Conti's perform as good or better than Mich 4S in wet and dry tests. I think the Mich 4S having been around for quite some time is due for an upgrade by Mich, right now the Contis have surpassed them.

They didn't on my V8V. I've even gone to the length of fitting the little "stoneguard" mud flap mouldings.

The problem is made worse by the local councils round me "refurbishing" roads with a "splash-and-dash" approach - a coating of tar and a sprinkling of chippings, then let the traffic do the rolling

I agree with this ... when warmed up the P Zero perform very well but in the UK in cooler temps they skip on full lock and take a little getting used to the difference between warm and cold in terms of handling. The car feels very skittish when putting power down.
