Mileage Discrepancy Question
Discussion
31st March looks like a change of owner, or an owner/trader notifying its "into trade" with an optional mileage entered.
20th May - do you know what event occurred on this date??
NMR (National Mileage Register) is a database run by HPI which collates several sources of mileage information, namely:
- Change of registered keeper (when they optionally enter a mileage)
- MoT
- some digital service information which is part of the scheme
- occasionally, HPI proactively contacting previous owners
- other stuff too

If you like the car enough to buy it and its just an error of some kind, rather than an actual clocking or unexplained discrepancy, get the dealer to correct it (officially) then run your own HPI check to ensure its done. Otherwise it will be a hindrance in the future to selling it on - and probably too late to correct it then.

That seems really sensible. Thanks for the suggestion.paul_c123 said:

This...It will be a hindrance selling it to a dealer later on.
Get it sorted before you buy it, as it looks like a simple mistake.
If not, simply buy another car without a mileage discrepancy on Hpi.

Thanks Trevor. Not a boring car with many alternatives and it's pretty much exactly what I want. I'll pursue the correction route and report back. It will be a hindrance selling it to a dealer later on.
