Bought a new laptop last August

For the last 20 minutes it's been "restarting"

Black screen and rotating dots.

I tried switching it off but it just "restarts"

Any ideas please.

Boot it into 'safe' mode, uninstall any updates that have happened recently and then restart. Sounds more like a software, rather than hardware, issue

Thanks for that.

How do I boot in safe mode?

Crtl-alt-delete does nowt.

It goes straight back to restarting if you press the off button

Thanks

Stand down.

After 90 minutes of restarting - it has!!!

Thanks for your help though.

I have a beast of a dell machine from work which I’ve had about 5 years

It’s fine, u less you try to boot it when it’s connected via usbc to a docking station

Are you sure it wasn't just installing a series of heavy updates? Especially if new, still supported and you unleashed the Dell update app on it.

After my Dell fell out of support after 5 years, it really calmed down on the updates front. Some of those Dell updates were killer. The Windows only updates it's getting now are very mild in comparison.
