iPhone no longer controlling bluetooth speaker volume
Discussion
I have a Bose SoundLink Mini bluetooth speaker, which I have had for years, and as of 2 days ago I can no longer control the volume from my iPhone, which is incredibly annoying.
I have done the whole 'forget this device' thing and repaired it (twice) and it has made zero difference.
Any ideas??

I found this on Google?
"The problem couldn’t have been connected to any one app as all were affected.
I tried all combinations of volume on phone and on the bluetooth speaker but nothing changed the situation where though i could change volume on speaker with its controls I could not change volume on speaker with phone.
Finally I found an old headphone type cable to connect phone directly to the speaker (male to male type) which enabled the correct control. By chance I tried Bluetooth again after disconnecting the cable and found that the volume control via Bluetooth had now corrected itself.
So all fixed but by use of old school hardware. "
Maybe that could work?

I fixed it. Posting the answer here in case anyone has anything similar in the future:
Resetting my phone didn't work. Using 'forget this device' and repairing didn't work.
A hard/factory reset of the Bose speaker (by holding the bluetooth button for over 10 seconds) and then repairing with the iPhone like a brand new device has cured it, and now working correctly. Volume is now operated by the phone again.
Thanks for the suggestions above.

Are you trying to adjust the volume while playing music on the speaker?
Apple's wacky context sensitive volume control is crap. I've accidently turned the volume of the directions right down when driving and you have to guess when it's speaking again to turn them back up.
Being fed-up with Waze doing this, I found a (slightly fiddly...) workaround. Go to Faceache - select a reel with sound - adjust the volume - go back to Waze, volume is now back, no guessing when she is speaking!Apple's wacky context sensitive volume control is crap.
