Was on Shaftsbury Avenue on Sunday lunchtime, just heading for a mini McFlurry at the Maccys opposite the Palace Theatre.

Pretty busy with tourists, I was about to go in the door when I saw a "promising footballer" busy tagging the marble with a big marker. I shouted Oi whatchathinkudoing etc. and confronted him.

Not an intelligent discussion, but he ended up saying leave me alone or I'll drop you....

I channeled my inner Jenrick and asked him if his mum would be proud of him. At which point his girlfriend appeared and shouted "this is his mum right here"!!! A small Mexican accented type 50 year old woman turned around and started attacking me (she threw a punch...)

I told them they were all completely pathetic and went to cool down with my McFlurry.

Other points to note:

Zero action from other bystanders

Zero action from the police who just carried on zooming past in cars, no one on patrol of course

Inb4

This happened

Don't regret having a go, but doubtful any of them are thinking about getting a 9 to 5.

Well done, the world needs more people like you.

My wife would have done the same. (Confronted him, not thrown a punch!)

Was he ‘tagging’ it or was he making some sort of political point? Not saying that excuses it, obviously, but it might explain why it seemed to have turned into a family day out!

Easier just to take a photo and post it on SM

No he was not making a political point. It was a messy squiggle devoid of sense or artistic merit.

Good idea to post pictures on social media and report to police. You never know they just might wake up and act one day.

This unfortunately highlights why we are in such a bad way.

Scumbags, aholes, anti-social morons, etc. etc. all exist because the parents are scumbags, aholes, anti-social morons, etc, etc.

...and yet it's immigrants that are the enemy*, apparently. rolleyes

* Presumably the enemy of people like this, because your average immigrant wants to work and wants to better themselves, thus showing up feral scum like in the OP's story for the parasites that they are.

No deterrent. Had this encounter turned to violence the OP would literally be in a world of hurt. Not just physically. Assuming the OP is an adult, if he hits ‘a kid’ and causes injury, no one cares about the tagging. They just focus on the ‘assault’.
When the edited social media clip goes viral, the tagging isn’t shown. Just a middle aged man hitting ‘a child’.
Rome is more than smouldering now.

"no one on patrol of course" - that's because there are too many calls for service (reports) and not enough Officers.

I'm not sure you can say that with confidence.

An old friend was born in this country to Polish immigrants who came over ~60 years ago...both his parents still have clear Polish accents.
One of the school dads is Spanish and still looks/sounds Spanish despite having lived here for 20 years.

Are they immigrants - I guess they are in the strictest sense, despite having UK nationality and passports for god knows how long.
Are they the people Farage is rabble-rousing about? No. Wrong skin colour for one.

(Besides which, I don't think the 'small boats' would make it out of the Caribbean, let alone across the Atlantic! wink )

Really couldn't say for sure about their nationality, and I did have the sense not to say anything at all to them along the lines of "that's not how we behave in this country" etc. etc.

I'm also well aware that we have plenty of English born and bred scuzz buckets, the encounter did give me pause for thought about humanity generally and how degenerates like them end up that way.

What were you thinking would happen, him to turn around and say "I’m awfully sorry chap , what a good point, I will stop now”

I’m not being facetious, its just a case of idealism vs realism – ideally, he would stop – realistically there is no chance of it happening.

Another mode of thought is , only pick fights you could win, but the last thing you want to do it rolling around on the street with a feral urchin , who could be armed – even if you wrestle him to the ground what then?

Me – id just ignore and carry on walking.

If it was a person being targeted, that’s different.

That and our useless, underfunded police force are the reasons we have such problems.

Many other cities outside London you can definitely challenge, as if it does escalate, there will be another person like you available as back up, more of you than the scrotes in fact.

But yeah in London…..

I cant think of a single city in the UK I have been to recently that would back up your assertion there.
