2017 iMac bluetooth will not turn on

Strange one

last night the Mrs was doing some admin on our 2017 iMac and it was playing up a bit. So she did a restart and now the bluetooth will not turn on. So everything a bit difficult as we have bluetooth mouse etc. Found an old wired mouse but the bluetooth 'switch is there but will not turn on. In settings the switch turns on but on the top tool bar it won't. So no Bluetooth???? any suggestions of why and how to solve it???

I had an issue with WiFi on an old Macbook some time ago. I bought a USB dongle, you can get a BT one, in case something has failed.
