BT Landline - how to block non whitelisted calls
Discussion
Hi,
I’m after some advice to help protect a relative from scam callers who target the BT landline. This is necessary because the relative lives alone and has Alzheimer’s.
The landline has BT Call Protect set to block calls (international, and withheld calls) but of course this still lets scammers get through as they use spoofed uk landline or mobile numbers.
Short of getting rid of the landline and just relying on a mobile is the only option to get a phone such as the BT call Guardian 8500 that checks a number against a whitelist of numbers on the handset?
Or does anyone have recommendations for any other (fool proof) system we can consider.
Thanks in advance

I had a discussion with BT about this re may 96 yr old aunt for whom I have POA. This was following her giving all her bank details to one of these thievin bstards.
BT were worse than useless. They have a responsibility to protect vulnerable customers. They are in effect letting scammers into their home.
I thought it would be simple. Make the phone OUTGOING calls only but was told this was not possible.
Once I got the bank sorted I took all responsibility but this too has a negative effect on the old person as they feel they are losing control.
The bank BOS was pretty helpful to be fair. We still have a small local branch (just!) and the staff there are helpful BUT services are dwindling and I fear the writing's on the wall.
I can't offer help OP but I can sympathise.
