I just can't get my head around this.
I can at least process parents who kill their kids through neglect or through anger - being a parent is hard.
But this...I just can't.
In a trial that shocked the country, a witness said Kelly Smith told her that she had sold her daughter to a sangoma, or traditional healer, for 20,000 rand (£830) and that the girl was desired for her “eyes and skin”.

Well yes, but I have been staring at this story for the last 10 minutes and like OP I just can't get my head around it. I know people sell kids because they think the buyer can give them a better life, but selling your kids to be murdered, dismembered and have the body parts used in some sort of witchcraft? That appears to be the assumption even if the Police have not given up all hope of finding her yet. What sort of person does that?
