Back seat space for 3 teenagers in the Model Y?
Discussion
Can any large families here help? Despite a lot of reading and watching, I can't work out how well 3 teenagers would fit in the back of a MY. None close by to try out during half-term.
I've sat in one by myself - I think the back seats hold 2 adults very comfortably, but the middle seat is fairly hard and compact. Plenty of headroom, I think the constraint is "hip width". The width seemed fairly similar to a Discovery Sport.
Most journeys are reasonably short, 15-45mins (which I think would be fine in almost any car) but a couple of times a year we do a run down to the Alps, so it needs to be somewhat comfortable for the full family. This would be an upgrade from a trusty Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
I have 2 teenagers and one 9-yr-old, but can anyone share their experience with 3 children in the back, ideally 2 or 3 of them being tall teenagers would be most appreciated?

We had a model 3 instead of model y and it was ok with 3 teenagers in the back (16/14/11). Completely flat floor helps the person in the middle so far fewer arguments about whose feet are on each side etc. Nice and airy with the glass roof (and we had white interior which I really rated - wipe clean with baby wipes and it looked almost new after 125,000 miles).
Model Y would be better than a 3 as the back seat is that much bigger. We are likely to go model Y next time when we get our next company car. A number of friends with 3 teenagers kids have Model Ys and are really pleased with them (replacing XC90s/Range Rover and people carriers as family cars).

Rather than start a new thread……..
In a similar vein how much room between 2 kids seats on the rear bench?
I ask as we sometimes get the pleasure of 2 grandchildren to ferry about. My current Yaris cross is not much wider than the 2 kid seats so not even a small child/adult can fit in between them, effectively making it a 4 seater.
Model Y is on my list of alternatives.

HarryW, I mentioned in the first post "The width seemed fairly similar to a Discovery Sport" and is bigger than an Outlander.
The Model Y has masses of space for 2 adults in the back (as would most cars of a similar size I think), even more so if they are grandchildren. You may find the Model 3 is sufficient too (IIRC it's a very similar car, just with less headroom and boot space).
