Young lads killed on illegal bikes

Seems to be happening a lot,

Heard of a few others, it’s getting to be an epidemic of people riding dirt bikes, electric motorbikes and modified electric bicycles.
The comments tend to be either “Serves them right” or “Wiv da Angles”.
I don’t want to see people die, and wishing that is pretty foul, but I can sort of see why.
Had one nearly knock me of my bicycle squeezing through a gap, he minted the pavement, seeing them everywhere now, no plates, no helmet, no stopping at lights and general no f
ks given mentality, until they hit a car and then there is a vigil.
Maybe you won’t need a candlelit vigil for your kids if you don’t let them have an illegal bike ?
I remember this happening round Covid and has got worse since, it’s all over social media, seen a middle aged man building and riding 6000 watt converted mountain bike.
Tough one for the Police, and you get all the scripted Saul t to leave the kids alone to have fun, personally I don’t want morons with not training charging round on 50 kilo bikes that do 60 mph.
Have you seen much of this ?

Did I miss something? the article doesn’t mention illegal electric or off road bikes?
The illegal electric Surons are a nuisance where I live. We just had an idiot on one a week or so ago, hit and kill a 80yo on a zebra crossing, then fled the scene. They got him and the bike but he was out on bail the next day! I often see them flying around the shared paths too, not only are they way too fast, they are almost silent.

Could be lethal to dogs as well and how quiet they are may mean that their owner cannot react in time to pull them away. The illegal electric Surons are a nuisance where I live. This is the challenge. Many of the people dying aren't adults, some aren't even the age of criminal responsibility. But because these motorcycles are so affordable and easily accessible (to buy and to use) they've become widespread, with even teenagers buying them so the idea it's all down the parenting decisions isn't entirely valid. One in Salford recently,

That said, the speed at which such illegal vehicles have become normal is incredible, and it's a wonder if we can ever get ahead of it in terms criminal or social pressures.
Build somewhere for them to use them and then hit those still running the streets on them hard. I do think it's the age old thing in that young lads that are the most laddish of their particular age group will do themselves damage, some killing themselves, just doing things that a lot of us have done.
It's just part of evolution, boys will be boys and not all of them will survive that rampage age. I will guarantee that when cars/bikes/electric bikes are all controlled externally for speed, cornering force etc young men will just find other means to maintain their death rate.
I'm in my 50's now and every year i will do one or two stupid things, usually out of stubbornness in accessing a fishing mark down or along a cliff, that have a 50/50 chance of killing me. Still better than the one or two a week back in my teens to late twenties
Are you not a downhill mountain bike rider ? I know a few of them and they have had more broken bones and time spent in hospital than my entire extended family have put together !

Lads on 'illegal' scramblers was always a thing when I was a kid. Is this just not the latest 'craze' that will eventually die down?? Darwinism will have an impact.....
Why will it die down? It's growing exponentially.I recently spent 3 or 4 days working on my drive and front garden. Multiple times a day groups of kids would ride by on them, generally behaving like t

There is little to stop them so why would they just give up riding?

I don't recall that being anywhere near as bad as the E-bike plague, probably because the latter are much cheaper/easier to buyThis isn’t a problem with motorbikes it’s a problem with that part of society (and before I get called racist, there’s just as many white scum bags kids, maybe more).
Raised their whole life being told they can be who they want, they can speak to anyone in any way with zero comeback.
They wear all black and a balaclava. They carry bladed weapons, even in ‘nice’ towns it’s happening.
They steal phones, they rob people.
They simply DO NOT Give a f
k.
It’s here now and will only get worse, imagine these scum as parents, you reckon their kids will be ok?

It's much worse now. I had a few friends on the periphery of that sort of thing growing up and they generally kept road riding to a minimum for fear of the consequences. They don't give a f

We get them around here. The pricks held up traffic at a crossroads a while back while we all sat there & thought how cool & awesome they all weren’t. There must’ve been 2 dozen in that bunch but normally it’s one or two, no helmet, no road sense, no f
ks given. Schadenfruede is what springs to mind when they come a cropper. I couldn’t give a toss.

Teens on illegal (petrol) dirt bikes has always been a thing where I live. They ride where ever they want and the police are pretty much powerless to do anything about it. That said, it looks like a tonne of fun... can't say I blame them really. Haven't ever heard of them hurting anyone but themselves unlike the car drivers around here (Caribbean). My 10 year old asked for one for Christmas

In 1967 I bought a ratty 350 Triumph 3TA for £12 for riding around the moors where I lived, whilst at school,
I pushed it back with a friend on the pavement eight miles from Manchester, the back tyre was nearly flat and it took us five hours.
A copper pulled up in his Panda car and could see we were both close to collapse, half a mile from home
He said "Hop on and ride it home, I haven't seen you right"
Happy days.
