Mazda6 oil change warning
Discussion
The oil change warning has come on on my Mazda6.
I've seen how to turn it off on you tube but when I've gone through the process the oil change warning doesn't go off !
Any suggestions?
I got the car in February from a dealer who told me they would service it before I picked it up and the oil level is good but the oil is black. It's a diesel so I expected the oil to be black. I used to drive a diesel company van and the oil was always black even after a service!

Change the oil. Mine used to flash up roughly every 9000 miles but the service intervals were 12000 as I recall. It was explained to me as oil dilution due to interrupted dpf regeneration. Change it sooner rather than later. Was a bloody good car apart from that and way better than the Passat piece of crap that replaced it.......
As above, they aren't the most robust of engines, a 6 monthly regime of oil & filter changes is a good idea anyway.
Just because the level is good doesn't mean it has been done & done correctly, I would always recommend making sure it has been done as a statring point & would not rely on a garage saying they will do it.

We do short journeys in ours. 2.2d 130k miles.
Change the oil once a year. 7k miles a year.
Car is fine. If the pile level is on the “x” then change it.
On these cars you have the kin and max then the x above max. That’s the dilution causing the oil levels to rise.
On a side note , if you’re getting dpf warnings even if the forced regen has happened then you have a stretched cam chain. £1300 job

It seems there are several ways of doing it, is this any help?

If you've Googled results, tried it, and it doesn't work, I'd suggest it can't be done with button presses alone. You'll need a level 2 diagnostic scanner. Plug it in, select "Service", "Oil", identify the vehicle (it can probably read the VIN), then follow the steps on the program to reset it.

Makes sense to me, although many can be done DIY.You just need to find someone to do it now, just remember if you take it to a garage they likely won't reset it without doing the oil change themselves.
Regarding oil changes i'd be on 3k oil changes with one of these to give it a fighting chance.
Try not to turn the engine off once a regen has started, if only car makers had seen fit to put a warning on the dash to tell the driver when a regen was in progress, most trucks put a warning light on during regen.
The correct oil in 20 litre packs, doesn't need to be the most expensive because it won't be in for long, buy filters in bulk when you see an offer, an oil change will probably cost you £30 at the most DIY, whats that they say about oil being the cheapest part you'll ever fit to an engine, much truth in that.
Other than the serious problem of oil dilution these are good cars, just keep an eye underneath for corrosion and take steps.
