I have own a 2008 ELISE 60th anniversary edition for 7 years. I have never had a problem with it at all . Only time I have had it serviced was for oil changes.
I have under 20,000 miles on it. Thought I would take my wife out to dinner and drove it to the restaurant . I stopped at a local gas station chain " Murphy's " and put a few gallons of premium in . Picked my wife up and headed to the restaurant. She purred like a kitten, the car that is. All of a sudden at a traffic light a few miles down the road it died. Started right up and continued but missing occasionally and check engine light comes on.
By the time we arrived at the restaurant she was missing a lot. Had dinner and went to drive 1/2 Mile to a friends house for a visit, she stared right up , but sputtered and died after a few minuets . Managed to get to friends house only to have it die and not stay running. Pushed into drive for the night. Went and got a couple of cans of Dry Gas water removal thinking it was water in gas, I had gotten some bad gas. Drained as much of the old gas as possible and replaced with new premium . Jumped in and it started right up but wanted to die. I could only keep it running by pumping the gas and not for more then 15 sec. then dies. Had it towed to a close by mechanic. He can't get it to do anything more. Thinks it a computer. His under the dash hand held computer does not register. Has anyone had this or simular problem. HELP FRUSTRATED ELISE OWNER

Had a similar problem with my sit on mower after putting some water contaminated fuel in. I had to purge the fuel system of water properly and then it ran fine with fresh 100% petrol.

Does this sound like water in the fuel. It does to me. Can't seam to get all the bad fuel out with out removing the tank, which is a royal paid with a Lotus Elise. There is about 1-2 gal still in the tank. Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks

Remove the inspection cover and remove the pump. Inspection cover opening may need enlarging.

Then you, can get a good visual on the inside of the tank and any fuel within to pump out.

I'm driver, not spanner dept.

My mate simply drained all the mower fuel via the carb petrol bowl, and it ran out until empty. One nut. Bon chance smile

The K-series is fine with E10 fuel but the fuelling system is definitely not! Ethanol is hygroscopic, so water will accumulate in the fuel lines, tank and pump causing corrosion very rapidly. I had to replace the lot on a 1998 s1 with a total mileage of 20,000. As a rule, you should use E10 only if the car is used daily, otherwise you should use E05 with a minimum 99 octane and only fuel up with the quantity of fuel you will use in the next couple of weeks or so. 102 octane is best because they can’t get that rating with any ethanol content even though it is still labelled E05.
