E39 abs module repair.

My e39 523i is throwing up problems with the abs module and my mechanic suggested that I send it away to be serviced. Can anyone recommend a specialist?
ECU Testing did both my Jap import E39s with zero issues: https://www.ecutesting.com/However; it can also be that the sensors are gummed up and need a good clean; I'd start there first (cheap/easy/free fix if you're lucky) - just soak each with penetrating fluid / Wurth Rost Off Ice before you try and undo the hex bolt and pop them out
What exactly do you mean by "throwing up problems"?
I ask because I had one on a 01 e39 530 Sport that would drop the speedo/ABS/Power steering due to communication issues.
Quarry motors sorted me out with a Genuine Bosch one without the BMW tax at half the price of new.
When I was looking into the particular issue with mine I was told by a couple of ECU test/repair places that they had a few with my problems & had, had mixed success, which is why I went new.

What year is it?
95-98 cars with the single vanos engine have the old E34 type ABS ASC system and module failures are very rare. A used unit is peanuts as there is very little demand.
Later cars including E38's, so 9/98 build onwards, have the improved unit that goes wrong. A 523i is fairly unlikely to have DSC and the huge majority have ASC. These units have an ECU built into the black plastic module on the pump. The part number visible on the module ends in 001. Secondhand ones used to be quite common but not now. New ones have shot up in price of course.
ECU testing in Heanor used to fix all mine but some were beyond repair. You can easily remove the module yourself and send it off. ASC modules self learn on refitting and unlike DSC ones don't need coding.

My mechanic texted me last night and told me about a company called Crash Data. Looked at their website and they can remove the faults and restore it to no fault showing. Spoke to them this morning and posted my module to them this afternoon. Should be back and fitted by the end of the week. Their reviews are good.
