I saw this movie last night and liked it, despite some indifferent Film reviews.
I am however a big fan of Night Shyamalan even when his movies get a bit preposterous as in Signs.
and I would have to say though that in that element The Village is the opposite, it seems preposterous until all is revealed and you can think about it afterwards.
To be perfectly fair the only criticism I feel you can level at this film is the way it was marketed. From the trailers you expect a gothic slasher horror film with huge amounts of blood and gore, scary monsters, chase scenes through the woods and many thrills and screams. What it actually is, is a thriller romantic drama and a very good one at that.
So all in all not a perfect film but still a good one.

Yep good twist at the end
I loved it because you think you have discovered the twist of the movie already, and you are a little disappointed because it was telegraphed and then suddenly Wow!!.

It was a very clever film, with a very clever twist, but it could have been condensed into three quarters of an hour. It would have been brilliant then, but I felt it was 1 and half hours too long, which made it boring.
Totally agree - it would have made an ace 'tales of the unexpeceted' or something!

All too common. Some perfectly good movies are mis-sold by trailers that try and make them more appealing to the mass market.DanBoy said:
The Village looks like a good film but due to mixed reviews I've yet to actually get around to seeing it.
I wouldnt go out my way to see it again but if it turned up on sky movies I might watch it again.
Its a bit like Usual Suspects and Seven once you know the twist its a competly different film to watch a second time
