I have recently acquired a Jaguar XK (X150) and am very happy with it.

I need to replace the tyres - wheels have twenty inch rims. Any recommendations on which tyres to go for and any to avoid, would be very helpful and much appreciated.

Garage have suggested Dunlop Sportmaxx, which are also referenced in the original handbook for the car. However, they seem to have mixed online reviews. Any views on them in particular would especially appreciated.

Thanks

The dunlops are the OEM fit, which is why they might be recommended. I drove mine with them and wasn't impressed.

Michelin Pilot Sports are the way forward; I think I'm on my second set all round and I think they're the 4 rather than the 4S. I haven't tried the 5 yet. These last for ages, give immense grip in both the wet and the dry and the only bad thing I can say about them is that they're a bit noisier than the dunlops and my pirellis sotto zeros which go on in november.

The top end contis get good reviews as well, but I gather they don't last as long.

I changed the dunlops for michelin ps4s and the car was transformed positively.

I've got Bridgestone Potenza.

Decent price, good reviews, grip well and wet and dry.

Avoid Dunlops.
