We have received several offers on our property and we're currently reviewing them to see which ones are viable.

The estate agents have refused to provide any names with the potential offers citing GDPR. Is that correct?

Put simply, we've had some high offers with low deposits and I want to dig about online to see if they're good for it. We don't want to get down the road and find an above asking offer turns into a 20k below offer as they can't get a mortgage.

Stupidly enough they sent us all the names already when they were booking viewings, we just can't match them to the offers.

Yes, GDPR will be a consideration.

Also they probably don’t want you contacting the client directly and negotiating something that navigates the Agents fees…

Also, the digging around and assessing the buyer is the agents job… for various reasons they wouldn’t want you to do your own ‘digging around’ of the potential buyer.

Ask the agent to confirm each offer and at what stage of ‘ready’ the buyer is at…

Include proof of funds/mortgage offer in that if you need to.

Make a decision on who you feel is most suitable based off the Agents feeeback…

If you don’t trust the agent to do this… drop them and pick another one.

I don’t think knowing there name or stalking them on Facebook/Instagram/Linkedin is really neccessary, reaonable or appropriate.

This. Leave the agents to do the job that you are paying them for. Digging around yourself on the internet for clues as to their suitability as buyers is doomed to failure for multiple reasons not least of all GDPR/Data protection.
