Thunderbolts* - went in having not watched any MCU films in about 3 years (unless Deadpool and Wolverine counts?) and was pleasantly surprised - it was back to the usual mix of action, light hearted humour and origin story. Florence Pugh was a great lead, the antagonist was entertaining and Bob was relatable to a lot of people I think. The red guardian was a bit OTT at times though.

It's good isn't it!

Also...

I only realised this last week and it made me laugh more than it should I think, completely forgot he was in this.

He knew he was going to be playing another Bob too, he asked Marvel if he could have a different name...

"When I first met with Jake [Schreier], I was like, 'Can we change the name? I just played a Bob' and he was like, 'It's in the comics, you can't change that',"

No way! That's brilliant. I hadn't realised Bob was in the comics smile

The Winter Soldier is is getting a bit like the Six Million Dollar Man. Yes the arm is tough being metal but the body is squidgy human.

If you're looking for another Connery film that is similar, have a look at Rising Sun (1993) co-starring Wesley Snipes, where Connery is an expert in Japanese studies and Snipes is an ignorant American cop, and they are investigating a murder in a Japanese corporate building, where Japanese etiquette is vital to solving the case.

Bonus is a cameo appearance of a Vector W8
Yeah, great film. I hadn't seen it in a while so I just grabbed a copy to watch this evening. Surprised how low a score it has.

Haven't seen the film but he has been "changed" into a super soldier with a similar drug to the one that made Capt America. Still shouldn't be bulletproof, if that's what you mean.

Bucky like Captain America has the super soldier serum so can survive quite a bit of punishment.

One of the things I love about the Ghost in the Shell manga is that it has an entire break-out panel about how you need whole body prosthesis to lift heavy objects otherwise your cybernetic arm just rips out of your fleshy bits. And how the fleshy bits become the weakest point.

Just because its sci-fi doesn't mean it can't be rooted in reality. Otherwise you may as well say it works by magic. smile

Likewise, put an egg inside a metal ball and drop it 200ft onto concrete and the egg is still going to break. Looking at you, Iron Man and also Robocop

Given what goes on in the MCU do we really need to get into the physics of it all thinking they should obey those laws...nahhhh

I always had this very complaint about the $64million Man, and yes 100% agree about Iron Man - there have been a number of times he should have been scrambled. At least Robocop has very few fleshy-bits inside and they could be considered to have been reinforced - to a degree - but it's a stretch.

I wasn't. I was just making a general comment. I stopped watched the MCU years ago and they can do what they want for all I care.

Yes, Robocop was generally semi-plausible apart from the boss fight in Robocop 2 where the eponymous Robocop 2 holds Robo by his feet and starts whacking Robo's head around the place like a baseball bat. That scene always irritates me.

Continuing my recent trend of watching Ridley Scott movies I've somehow not seen before, last night I watched Body of Lies.

I started off thinking I simply wished I hadn't bothered. Then about half way through I realised I had watched it before, but it's so utterly forgettable that I had in fact forgotten it.

As far as Crowe and Scott's films go, it's closer to Robin Hood than Gladiator.

Inflation since the 70's has been a bh.

Im not up to date on the latest films so didn't know about him having the super serum.
I saw this in the trailer where he defects a rolling transit van over two people. Would the serum give him this amount of strength?

Six Million Dollar man protecting someone from a falling steel girder. It would have crushed his body.

I remember as a child I found the moving palm trees on Tracey Island unbelievable. The palm trees. That moved.

What was that about anyway? When Thunderbird 2 took off from Tracey Island, we had this whole trees dropping and ramp lifting sequence. Whenever it went anywhere else, it just took off vertically….
