I have a 2017 vantage v12s and the rear view camera does not come on when I select reverse. Anyone have any ideas? I’m been through the settings but makes no difference if the camera setting is set to on or off

Has it always been like this or did it previously work but has recently stopped working?

If your car is 2017 then it will have AMi III (unless its a late registration of old stock), in which case make sure you have the latest firmware applied. Anything other than the final release can be very buggy with anything and everything thats displayed on the screen being subject to random bugs.

The final firmware details can be found on this thread.

It’s not something many, if any dealers check really especially as there hasn’t been any new releases for some years now. But if your previous owners were not aware or didn’t notice any bugs it may well not have been updated since the original factory install.

It’s simple to check yourself, you can see the firmware rev levels in the menus, then just check its on the version in the thread above.

It may well be a fault and not related to the firmware but it’s definately worth getting updated regardless as all prior versions were very buggy.

Best get it done whilst it’s being serviced as we’ve heard of some dealers wanting to charge for it being done as a stand alone update.

They should also be able to update the latest maps for your AMi III Nav too as part of the service - but this isn’t linked to the the firmware update so again, worth asking.

Does your camera fold away out of sight, when not in reverse gear?

I had the same fault as you on a daily driver. The camera moving mechanism had become stuck. Tapping immediately solved the problem.

Do you mean the info screen? The screen is in the upright position but doesnt change to the rear camera view when reverse is selected

No, I was referring to the actual camera.
In my case, the failure to show the expected picture, was because the camera was not emerging from its tiny compartment.
It had become stuck.
Whether your camera remains in a fixed position all the time, I do not know.

A fixed camera facing rear is bound to become dirty, so I presume that is why many of them fold away into a clean and dry compartment.

I just wondered whether like mine, your camera is not moving to its viewing position, when you select reverse?
Obviously no camera, then no picture on the screen.
